【About Materials and Ideas Provided by The Japan Foundation】

    The Japan Foundation Japanese-Language Institute, Urawa (“the Institute” hereafter) owns all copyrights and intellectual property rights to the material and ideas offered, and other information posted on the ‘Minna no Kyozai’ website (“the Site,” and “teaching materials ” hereafter), except for the material, ideas, etc. posted on the ‘Forum’.
  1. Teaching resources can be used without permission and are free of charge for the purpose of Japanese-language education and Japanese-language study.
    • Examples of ways that materials can be used free of charge and without permission:
    • ・Copy or Modify the downloaded materials and create teaching materials such as worksheets for in-class activities.
    • ・Use in publications distributed free of charge.
      However, prior permission must be requested in the following cases:
    • ・When using resources in paid publications.
    • ・When publishing resources on a website.
  2. Please use the following points regarding the following teaching resourses with caution.
    •  (1)Some photos are limited to use by individuals or as teaching materials for school classes. Cautionary statements are displayed for these photos. Example sentences and audio that accompany “CASTEL/J”pictures are intended for use by individuals or as teaching materials for school classes.
    •  (2)The use of ‘JFS B2 Teaching Materials’ is limited to being downloaded and saved on your own computer (except videos), or being copied as they are and used in lessons without adapting.
    •  (3)Please use photos with the copyright (such as © The Japan Foundation) as displayed on the photo.
  3. If you use materials in a publication, please mention as below in the publication that you used the Site. Please also send three copies of the final publication to the Institute.

  1. Copyright for materials, ideas, comments, and folder information and notes created on My Page (“ideas, comments, etc.” hereafter) sections of registered users posts belong to the registered user who wrote and posted them. Limited to the below Japanese-language education and Japanese-language study, other users can use these free of charge without the copyright holders permission.
    Examples of ways that materials can be used free of charge and without permission:
    • ・Copy or Modify the downloaded materials and create teaching materials such as worksheets for in-class activities.
      In cases where materials will be used in a widely distributed publication (not limited to classes) or website (including translation use), whether free of charge or paid, it is necessary to obtain permission of the copyright holder in advance. Please directly contact the contributor at his/her email address, if available. If the email address is not available, please contact the Institute from ”Inquiry” for mediation.
  2. Please review the following when contributing ideas, comments, etc
    • ・Do they include work by others?
    • ・Do they include content that was translated or adapted from a work by another person? In order to modify the original work of another by translation and adaptation, it is necessary to obtain the consent of the author of the original.
    • ・Have you received consent from the people in a photo you are going to contribute? Using a photo that shows other people’s faces may constitute an invasion of portrait rights or privacy. Even if you took the photo, if it shows other persons, please obtain consent from all persons shown.
  3. If registered users want to delete material, ideas and comments that they posted, they should inform the Institute to that effect. However, even in that case, the Institute will decide whether to delete each idea and comment at its discretion, and in every case the decision will need to be approved.
  4. Registered users shall not engage in the following acts when using the Site.
    • (1)Behaviour that infringes on copyrights, trademarks, other any intellectual property rights, assets, portrait rights or privacy of third-parties or the Institute
    • (2)Falsely accusing third-parties or the Institute
    • (3)Sending or writing harmful computer programs
    • (4)Criminal acts
    • (5)Offending public order and morals
    • (6)Using the Site for commercial purposes
    • (7)Acts related to politics and election activities
    • (8)Acts with the direct purpose of proselytizing religions or disseminating a particular doctrine, idea or policy
    • (9)Acts of registering false information
    • (10)In addition to the above, acts that prejudice the operation of the Site, acts that damage the trust of the Institute, and acts that apply to (1) to (9) above that the Institute deems inappropriate.
  5. If the Institute judges that a post falls under the previous paragraph, it can delete the concerned post without informing the registered user.
