①How to use refined search
- The goal of the learning
- What skills are used when learners do that activity
What kinds of activities are there?
It is possible to check items from six fields, including ‘Activity aim’, ‘Activity type’, and ‘Activity level’. The more items that are checked, the fewer the search results (AND searches). It is not necessary to check all items. Please only check the items needed.
It is also possible to check one item several times. The more checks on one item, the greater the search results (OR searches).
When I checked ‘Interview’ in ‘Activity type’, 39 items of Classroom Activities appeared! When I checked ‘Role-play’ as well, it increased to 65 results (OR search).
Let‘s try checking some other items. If you check ‘First half of elementary level’ under ‘Activity level’, the number of results changes to 41.
②Refined search items
【Activity aim】
Refine a search by ‘Activity aim’ that shows the kind of ability that learners acquire through the materials or activities. For example, if searching for controlled speaking practice in order to remember a new sentence pattern, choose ‘Grammar and sentence patterns’ as the ‘Activity aim’ not ‘Conversation’. If searching for practice that deals with a conversational situation that the new sentence pattern appears in, choose ‘Conversation’ as the ‘Activity aim’. All materials have some sort of ‘Activity aim’.The following are the eight ‘Activity aim’:
Characters
Vocabulary
Grammar and sentence patterns
Conversation*1
Listening comprehension
Composition*2
Reading comprehension
Cultural understanding
Includes all speaking. This is not just interaction between two or more people, but is also individual production, such as speeches and presentations.
Includes all writing, such as writing e-mails and letters.
With Can-dos
Check this when searching for materials with Can-do objectives. It is also possible to search for materials with Can-do objectives by inputting ‘Can-do’when doing a keyword search.
Can-dos display Japanese language proficiency using sentences beginning with ‘I can ...’ that say what someone can do and how well in Japanese. It is possible to concretely understand what the objective is in terms of what someone will become able to do in real life.
